I was a guitarist who worked in flamenco tablaos and various flamenco companies in Barcelona, an activity that, at the age of 20, I combined with my studies at the conservatory and teaching flamenco guitar. The success of those classes that I started doing in my own home was such that I had to open a school to be able to attend to so many students.
There is where to discover my true vocation: pedagogy. Starting to teach a student from scratch and after years of studying with me, seeing him play on stage seems like an exciting process. I dedicate all my effort and all my passion to teach my students everything so that they can develop their full potential.

Juan Manuel, how did you get to configure the Ávila method? What theoretical bases support your method?
The Ávila method is the fruit of 20 years teaching students of very different profiles, different ages, different countries, in short it is a method configured for anyone who wants to play the guitar regardless of their level. It is intended that the student can achieve all his objectives in a progressive way, understanding all the concepts, from the most basic to the most advanced.
With the Ávila method, the student gets all the elements, the guitar technique, the musical theory necessary for the instrument. In short, all the knowledge is provided to the student in such a way that they settle down and become a good tool for musical expression.
What strategies are of fundamental importance to develop the Ávila Method?
Above all, the strategy consists of the total understanding of everything that has to be studied at all times. Studying with a metronome as a rhythmic base is important for the student to understand both the flamenco guitar technique and the rhythm of each style, music as important in general, but of vital importance in flamenco.
The rhythm is worked from the beginning and is strictly understood in each style, so the student can defend himself later in the three schools of flamenco guitar, accompaniment to cante, accompaniment to dance, and concert guitar.
